One of the most powerful ways to stay engaged in our local democracy is simply to show up.

The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, with occasional special meetings called as needed. These meetings are where decisions are made about county policy, budgets, public services, land use, and the issues that directly affect our daily lives.

Being present at these meetings whether to listen, learn, or speak helps ensure that we are heard and seen.

Why Local Engagement Matters

National politics often feel overwhelming and out of our control. Local government is different.

At the county level:

Why we’re mobilizing

On Wednesday, January 7, ICE killed an American citizen in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This killing reflects an increasing pattern of unchecked violence and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies. Furthermore, the administration continues to lie to the public while people are getting kidnapped, abused, and killed. We refuse to normalize it. We will show up, speak the truth in public, and demand changes.

What to expect

This action is:

• Nonviolent and lawful
• Community-led
• Held in a public space
• Concluded before dark

We encourage everyone to bring signs and show up to fight authoritarian take-over and a police state in our country.

Labor and community are planning more than a barbecue on Labor Day this year because we have to stop the billionaire takeover. Billionaires are converting the government into their private slush fund and just passed the largest wealth giveaway in the history of the US. The money they take from working families, they put in billionaires’ pockets and set aside to fund a private army of ICE agents.

Just like any bad boss, the way we stop the takeover is with collective action. We are working people rising up to stop the billionaire takeover–not just through the ballot box or the courts, but through building a bigger and stronger movement. We are growing our movement and fighting for a country that is more fair, just, equitable, and free for all of us—and not just a chosen few.

On September 1st we will continue the movement we launched together on May 1st, standing in solidarity with all our communities under attack and fighting for real wins for all our people.

Thousands of communities across the country are taking a stand on Labor Day, join us! We will be in the streets, outside the offices of the corporate criminals who are behind the attacks on our freedoms, and at congressional offices. Together we will demand a country that puts workers over billionaires.

OUR DEMANDS TO BUILD THE SOCIETY WE ALL DESERVE:

1. Stop the billionaire takeover corrupting our government.
2. Protect and defend Medicaid, Social Security, and other programs for working people.

🚨 National Day of Action: Fight the Trump Takeover 🚨

The Texas House Democrats are denying quorum to stop Trump’s takeover of Texas and block his attempt to rig the 2026 midterms. But Trump isn’t stopping in Texas, he’s also targeting Missouri, Ohio, Florida, and every state he can twist to help him steal Congress next year.

This week, Trump went even further by federalizing Washington D.C. and singling out New York City, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Chicago, and Oakland, California as potential future targets. This is a drastic escalation of federal presence on the streets of American cities.

States like California and New York are starting to fight back. Let’s be clear: this fight started in Texas, but it doesn’t end there. This isn’t about redistricting; it’s about the future of our democracy. Trump knows he can’t win on his ideas, so he’s trying to silence voters, especially communities of color. We’re not going to let that happen.
