March 9 Rally For Ukraine

On Sunday March 9th, we held a rally to support Ukraine. Thank you to everyone for the incredible turn out. The community and people driving through were very supportive!

The Union Democrat covered the rally, including the speech from our very own Jamestown resident and U.S. Air Force veteran James Carpenter: “Let’s be very clear, Russia started the war, Putin is a dictator, and Zelenskyy is a hero. Right now, Trump has cut off all military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine and quit sharing intelligence. Russia has since increased attacks. The president of the United States is actively aiding Russia.”

Now more than ever, we must show our unwavering support for the brave people of Ukraine, and let them know Tuolumne County supports them in their fight for democracy.

History took a shameful turn when, for the first time, the U.S. aligned with Russia and North Korea in a UN vote against Ukraine and democracy. Days later, at the White House, President Trump and VP Vance publicly humiliated President Zelenskyy—a leader fighting for his life and the survival of his nation against Putin’s brutal war.

Tuolumne County will NOT stay silent. Join us on Sunday, March 9th, from noon to 2 PM at Courthouse Park in downtown Sonora to stand in solidarity with Ukraine. Bring signs of encouragement and let the world know that the Trump administration does not speak for all of us.
