June 6 Veterans Appreciation Gathering: Honoring Service on D-Day

Friday, June 6 · 5:30–6:30 PM
Woods Creek Rotary Park · Sonora, CA (across from the Fairgrounds on Stockton St.)
Join Tuolumne County Indivisible for a community gathering to honor the courage, sacrifice, and humanity of our Veterans and military families past and present.
This event takes place on D-Day, the anniversary of the Allied landing at Normandy in 1944, when over 156,000 troops risked everything to defend democracy. It’s a moment in history that reminds us what true service and courage look like and why those values still matter today.
Why We're Gathering
In the Sierra Foothills, military service runs deep. Many of us are Veterans or have loved ones who’ve served. Yet too often, these stories and sacrifices fade quietly into the background.
We’re here to bring that reverence back into focus. To create space for remembrance. To reconnect with the values worth protecting.
This Is Not a Protest
This is a space of gratitude, connection, and community.
We’re gathering to honor and share stories, photos, and memories of those who’ve served and sacrificed.
What to Expect
• A short welcome and reflection on the significance of D-Day
• Three scheduled speakers sharing personal stories
• An open invitation for attendees to speak or share memorabilia
• A sense of connection and collective reverence

Let’s stand together in gratitude—and remember what’s worth fighting for.
